Aao Na

This poem is inspired by the song ‘Aao Na’ from the movie ‘Kyun, ho gaya na!’ starring green-eyed porcelain goddess Aishwarya Rai when she was dating her co-star Vivek Oberoi in 2004. The song is melodious and beautiful. The lyrics and language are excellent, but of course, you will need to have some understanding of Hindi because the translation really does not do justice to it. I hope you enjoy my poem and the song as well.

Aao Na – Ruelha

Come to me, my sweetheart.
The breeze and air wants to impart.
Some sweetness to this weather.
The birds are singing melodies and blowing away feathers.
Everything around us is so romantic.
All around us, the scenery is ecstatic.
All are singing in loving intoxication.
Come here to me in sweet dedication.

I don't understand this fire burning within my soul.
Strangely gentle and cool; it makes me feel whole.
I'm now consciously aware of my breaths.
And within my heartbeats, I can feel the depths.
What is this that is happening to me?
I am feeling all these things; am I crazy?
All are singing in loving intoxication.
Come here to me in sweet dedication.

My body and soul of these changes are aware.
The air around us create a loving atmosphere.
All around us, there is loving intoxication.
But you and me, we are filled with hesitation.
Why is it that only we are silent?
Shouldn't we sing along and be compliant?
Speak those words that I long to hear.
Dig them out of your heart and come to me near.

Tell me all those things that I wish to hear.
When there's love between us, why the fear?
Come towards me; move closer and closer.
So you can feel my heartbeats go faster and faster.
Everything around is so romantic.
All around us, the scenery is ecstatic.
All are singing in loving intoxication.
Come here to me in sweet dedication.

Come to me, sweet one. Come here.
The air around has created a loving atmosphere.
All around us, there is loving intoxication.
But you and me, we are filled with hesitation.

    1. Well said Fred. Attraction is the beginning. It’s important. But, if one does not graduate to a deeper connection and intimate bonds, attraction and lust will not be able to sustain a successful and fruitful relationship.It has to go beyond that.
