Nowadays couples have children And negotiate as if it were a hostage situation Let the women and children be safe But leave the men as unwanted bait! That's what many marriages have become Nobody's in love anymore, and nobody's having fun Couples endure and tolerate each other Because if they split, maybe the children may suffer! Most couples begin with noble intentions To raise a child in a loving home and similar visions But, the misery and monotony of life takes over And with all the occurences around, they lose their composure Many begin with wrong reasons And then with the pressure, their children feel imprisoned Don't have kids as a retirement plan Invest now, withdraw later like a bank! Many have this strong urge to protect their legacy So all their accumulated wealth goes only to their progeny That too has a very innately selfish motive Let no other but a part of me reap the benefits, is the objective Whatever the situation, in most cases, children end up as a trump card Oscillating between both parents, with battleships in the backyard Don't use your kids as bullet-proof vests Parenting is not a competition with parents as opponents in a contest They say when you become a parent, your fangs come out With milk teeth gone, you become protective without a doubt Sure, every parent wants the best for their child But somewhere in between, intentions get defiled! Don't use your children as your ace trump card If you produce innocent souls, them you must guard Have children to love and cherish Not because you worry about your wealth once you perish Have children for the sheer joy of parenting! To love and admire all through their upbringing!

I have a very creative imagination. Most of my poems do not hint at my life/situation. Kindly refrain from drawing such parallels. Much of what I write is purely fictional. Situations and examples may be hypothetical. I have always written about topics I am passionate about – Christianity, makeup, melancholic poetry, food, romance, women’s issues, soulful music, narratives, etc. Given the circumstances, my gender, situation, geography, etc., I feel the need to put up a disclaimer! Everyone is entitled to an opinion. But, please don’t interpret this poem in a disrespectful manner. Please extend me the grace of excusing typos if you notice any. I seldom ever edit due to time constraints. My written material may have references to various substances, none of which I promote, and my writings contain material that may be unsuitable for children.
In the United States, there are a lot of financial advantages to not being married and having a family that way. Food stamps alone seem to make it worth it if the man and woman work out a plan.
I may be off track a little in relation to your poetic liberty, but I don’t think too much. 🤠🔥
