Captain Vikram Batra is played by Sidharth Malhotra in the movie Shershaa{translates as ‘LionKing’ or Braveheart} which is based on a real-life love story of a martyred Kargil hero. His fiancee(unmarried girlfriend) continues to live as his widow to date. The Kargil war between India and Pakistan was one of the worst I’ve ever witnessed in my time. It was gruesome and bone-chilling. Recounting how it began, and the fate of our poor soldiers makes me shirk in disgrace of humanity. No good ever comes from war. I pray that peace prevails. I bow down and salute the soldiers who risk their lives and sacrifice normalcy and a good family life for the sake of my freedom. I value my freedom a lot and I am well aware it does not come cheap! Jai Hind!
As you’ll notice in the video, the couple meet in their early college years at a time when we still had rotary-dial phones, STD phone booths, glass cola bottles and headphones. It was an innocent time when love was eternal. Sometimes, I wish cell phones were never created. A lot of filth and vanity has taken over through this medium. Anyway, that’s another topic for another day.
The song is in Punjabi. I don’t speak Punjabi. But, the lyrics are rather simple so I figured most of it along with some internet research. Sidharth Malhotra is my absolute favourite Bollywood guy. He looks soooooooo dreamy and cute. Look at him smile …intoxicating!
