Smooth Criminal

This was a sensational song by Michael Jackson that released in 1988. I played it on my Walkman throughout till the batteries ran dry. Those were the years, eh! I was really obsessed with that cassette. It’s a self explanatory song that describes how this criminal sneaks in undetected to hack and kill Annie to death. They’re calling out to her to see if she’s okay. But she’s already lifeless and dead. So they move on in pursuit of the criminal instead.

Smooth Criminal – poem by Ruelha

We're on the lookout for a smooth criminal
Who performs his acts in silence and low decibels
He slips and enters your home undetected
A knack that he has skillfully perfected
But there's no such thing as the perfect crime
You're going to get caught soon any time

This man, he slipped in through the window
But all that was seen is his intriguing shadow
Yet, a careless mistake he did make
That put his modus operandi at stake

Annie, are you okay?
Candy, are you okay?
Are you okay, Annie?

As he slipped into her apartment
He segregated the faculties into compartments
And so she was hit by ...a smooth criminal
The wavelength he operated on was subliminal

It was exactly a Sunday
What a way to ruin a beautiful day
You've been hit by, you've been struck by
You're the bullseye; you're the bullseye
Of a smooth criminal!
Oh dear Jackson, Michael...
This your song, is truly sensational

Annie, are you okay?
Annie, are you okay?
Are you okay, Annie?

But he left bloodstains on the carpet
And with forensics, it's completed its circuit
But Annie's no longer okay; she's no longer okay
She met her doomsday, her doomsday that day!

Annie, are you okay?
Annie, are you okay?
Are you okay, Annie?

Annie, are you okay?
Annie, are you okay?
Are you okay, Annie?

Sing my poem in the same tune as the original song, if possible. It's more fun that way, I promise.
That's how I wrote it at least! Writing while singing!

Smooth Criminal – lyrics to Michael Jackson’s original song

As he came into the window
Was the sound of a crescendo
He came into her apartment
He left the bloodstains on the carpet
She ran underneath the table
He could see she was unable
So she ran into the bedroom
She was struck down, it was her doom
Annie, are you okay?
So, Annie, are you okay? Are you okay, Annie?
Annie, are you okay?
So, Annie, are you okay? Are you okay, Annie?
Annie, are you okay?
So, Annie, are you okay? Are you okay, Annie?
Annie, are you okay?
So, Annie, are you okay? Are you okay, Annie?
Annie, are you okay?
Will you tell us that you're okay?
There's a sound at the window
Then he struck you, a crescendo Annie
He came into your apartment
He left the bloodstains on the carpet
And then you ran into the bedroom
You were struck down
It was your doom
Annie, are you okay?
So, Annie, are you okay? Are you okay, Annie?
Annie, are you okay?
So, Annie, are you okay? Are you okay, Annie?
Annie, are you okay?
So, Annie, are you okay? Are you okay, Annie?
You've been hit by-
You've been hit by-
A smooth criminal
So they came in to the outway
It was Sunday, what a black day
Mouth-to-mouth resuscitation
Sounding heartbeats, intimidation
Annie, are you okay?
So, Annie, are you okay? Are you okay, Annie?
Annie, are you okay?
So, Annie, are you okay? Are you okay, Annie?
Annie, are you okay?
So, Annie, are you okay? Are you okay, Annie?
Annie, are you okay?
So, Annie, are you okay? Are you okay, Annie?
Annie, are you okay?
Will you tell us that you're okay?
There's a sound at the window
That he struck you a crescendo Annie
He came into your apartment
He left the bloodstains on the carpet
Then you ran into the bedroom
You were struck down
It was your doom
Annie, are you okay? So, Annie, are you okay?
Are you okay, Annie?
You've been hit by-
You've been struck by-
A smooth criminal
Okay, I want everybody to clear the area right now
Annie, are you okay? (I don't know)
Will you tell us, that you're okay? (I don't know)
There's a sound at the window (I don't know)
Then he struck you, a crescendo Annie (I don't know)
He came into your apartment (I don't know)
Left bloodstains on the carpet (I don't know why, baby)
And then you ran into the bedroom (help me)
You were struck down
It was your doom, Annie (dag gone it)
Annie, are you okay? (Dag gone it-baby)
Will you tell us that you're okay? (Dag gone it-baby)
There's a sound at the window (dag gone it-baby)
Then he struck you, a crescendo Annie
He came into your apartment (dag gone it)
Left bloodstains on the carpet (hoo, hoo, hoo)
And then you ran into the bedroom
You were struck down (dag gone it)
It was your doom Annie
