Grease

A little bit of grease,
gets everything done with ease.
It seems like everyone.
understands it more than a pointed gun!

Just like grandma said.
Butter goes with bread.
To your dish, add a little butter.
It makes everything better!

A spoon full of sugar,
Just like meat tenderizes in a pressure cooker.
It makes the medicine go down.
Without any whiney sound.

When you have jewellery stuck on your finger.
And even with soap, it wishes to linger.
Massage it with a little tease.
Just add a little quantity of grease.

Girls, they melt with some fatty grease.
A few compliments and they're on their knees.
Because their worth comes from others' perception.
And they're constantly seeking affirmation.

Remember my words, just these...
Without rhyme or reason, nobody pours grease.
Nothing is free in this world.
If not now, later with interest, it will unfold.

Be a strong, self-respecting human.
You are responsible to your own person.
Your conscience and your God.
Whatever the path you choose to trod.

When someone steals your credit at the workplace,
Look upwards and thank God for their life anyway.
And when you like the reflection in your mirror,
Thank the sculptor; you're just the caretaker.

If you're the only one struggling towards a cause.
Dwell in the reason you began; don't expect applause.
If you're the one who prepared a delectable buffet.
And nobody noticed or thanked you, pat your own back anyway.

Even when you fail; and maybe you always do,
remember, the heavenly Father takes delight in you.
It's not about accumulating accolades and achievements.
And competing so much that you end up with resentment.

Why seek approval from earthly beings!
When all of us have the same limited seeing.
They only grease when there is a clause.
A clear conscience and an unexpectant heart, try these because...
This is the only way to be truly free.
Living in the present instead of a memory!

Disclaimer: This poem is purely literary. Please read it with an open mind and out of respect for the written word. To me, writing is my life. There is nothing I love more. I have a very creative imagination. Most of my poems do not hint at my life/situation. Kindly refrain from drawing such parallels. Much of what I write is purely fictional. Situations and examples may be hypothetical. I have always written from my heart …about topics that I am passionate about – Christianity, makeup, melancholic poetry, food, romance, women’s issues, soulful music, narratives etc. Given the circumstances, my gender, situation, geography etc., I feel the need to put up a disclaimer every time I write a romantic/melancholic/intense piece. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. But, please don’t interpret this poem in a way it was not intended. That is just my humble request. Please note, some of my writings may contain material unsuitable for children.
