One Day You… {Ek Din Aap}

This song is from a rather old movie that was released in 1997 starring Shah Rukh and Juhi Chawla. I’ve had the pleasure of serving them many times during my flying days. They’re both so adorable. Juhi was so warm, humble, and pleasant. Shah Rukh Khan, of course, has a special place in my heart with all those romantic movies he’s starred in. Who doesn’t want a real-life Shah Rukh! My poem was inspired by this lovely song that I’ve embedded below.

Who knew, we'd meet like this?
When I look back and reminisce,
I never imagined such things could happen.
Romancing purity like a genuine chaplain.

Flowers and only flowers are blooming in my path.
Just like the tall bouquet stuck in my heart.
And when I close my eyes, everything seems fragrant.
As if you were right before me, at this very moment.

Who knew, we'd meet like this?
When I look back and reminisce,
Who would have imagined?
The patterns of life in this fashion.

There is dancing in the sky.
With cotton balls of clouds swinging by.
The earth below me no longer feels the same.
It's like the ground is singing and calling me by name.

Who knew, we'd meet like this?
And all around me I'd feel bliss.
None of this, I had ever expected.
My heart locked away, I'd kept protected.

But through layers of cages, it shot forth branches.
Buds in blossom are taking their own chances.
Stretching out in fragrant beauty.
Locked up, yet attempting to fulfill its duty.

Who knew, we'd meet like this?
And all around me I'd feel bliss.
I never imagined this feeling.
Logically vulnerable, but I'm actually healing.

Just one gaze, when I look into your eyes.
Deep within your soul, I'm mesmerized.
And when you approach, I feel intoxicated.
Like a gas balloon that is completely inflated.

Who knew, we'd meet like this?
If someone were to tell me, I'd just dismiss.
But, that's how it is with destiny.
It springs upon you, suddenly.

In daytime, I see the stars of the night skies.
And when they're gone, I see sparkling fireflies.
All these lamps of love lighting up.
They're so innocent like a little pup.

Who knew, we'd meet like this?
If someone were to tell me, I'd just dismiss.
That you'd meet me some day.
And enchant me in so many ways.
