Recipe : Banana Wheat Bites

Bananas are easily available everywhere here. It’s the cheapest of all the fruits for just 3 bucks a piece, loaded with potassium, minerals, vitamins and fiber. But unfortunately, they ripen so quickly and cannot be stored too long. Sometimes, we’re left with overripe bananas that are unsightly with those blackened spots and mushy texture. But honestly speaking, they’re a lot more healthier that way. I cannot discard food; I cannot waste food. I have too much respect for it. Usually, I just make a banana cake or banana fritters. But look at what my mum came up with….

Ingredients:

  • 2 overripe bananas
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 100ml milk
  • 1 tsp. Cream
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 6 tbsp. Jaggery or 4 tbsp. Sugar
  • 2-3 pinches of baking soda

Method:

Grind the bananas with sugar and salt. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well. Adjust the consistency by either adding more flour or milk. Remember we are going to fry this in hot oil so it cannot be runny. My mum pan fried these. But you can also deep fry and get puffy little balls that resemble foogiyas.

I hope you enjoy cooking and eating/serving my dish. Bon Appetit!

      1. I don’t like it in desserts either. I don’t like pumpkin pie, but I like baked punkin with meats and other vegetables. It’s weird what one will like one way or the other.
