This is such an easy recipe. I won’t be giving you a big list of ingredients to grind and make some fancy masala. It’s easy yet so delicious. You can use this blend to fry any fish. Yes, just about any fish. Just take pieces of fish of your choice. Here I have used Seer Fish, known as Surmai on the Western coast. It is the preferred fish along the Tamil Nadu coastline. It has a firm texture with just a centre bone and a few bones near the gut area and along the tip of the tail. It’s as good as a boneless fish. Wash it well. Marinate with the following:
- Salt to taste
- 1.5 tsp red chili powder
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp pepper powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
- 1/2 tsp dry mango powder

When you’re ready to fry, dip in flour of your choice. Everyone has a different preference. I like rice flour. You can use corn flour, gram flour, wheat flour, rava, all purpose or even a blend of these. Fry in hot oil in a non stick till it becomes nice and crisp. Flip over and do the same for the other side. Squeeze a lemon all over the fish pieces turning them in the pan itself. Dry it up a bit in the pan. Serve hot.
I hope you enjoy cooking and eating/serving my dish. Bon Appetit!

Looks pretty good. I’m not much of a fish eater.
