I am known to have the most horrible phone etiquettes.
That is what prompted a friend to use such morbid analogies.
I know it's very confusing.
Let me begin by explaining...
So, I have this habit.
Where I just ignore my gadgets.
I don't care to read my messages.
Of such a crime, I have high percentages.
The most memorable messages of my life.
I've read after a year when from slumber I did arise.
That's just the average time.
Of this, my repetitive crime.
There have been birthday messages on Facebook.
That I responded to in nine months, it took.
Important messages and invitations.
I've missed attending some real celebrations.
True, I was never really into social media.
Unlike most people, that ain't my Wikipedia.
I just recently created my Insta and Twitter accounts.
Until then, an inactive Facebook account is all I had, that too renounced.
It's the same with text messages and WhatsApp.
I don't even care to look until a six month gap.
That includes important messages concerning application for a passport.
Until the cops had to personally call me to submit my character report.
Especially if it's a forward, I really don't care.
My precious time to waste and spare.
Personal messages, I tend to prioritize.
Even with my closest friends, this activity I minimize.
Because otherwise all your life will go away messaging.
And that my friend, is extremely irritating.
So, just once in a month or two, I sit to scan.
And reply to the ones I should and have at hand.
It does not imply that I don't care.
It just means at a screen I don't wish to stare.
A good friend pointed out this quality.
About my aversion to using technology.
And then he said the funniest thing.
That had me in splits laughing.
He asked me, "Is this what goes on in your brain when you see my texts?
Is there nobody in this guy's life that's left?
Are all the people dead in your life?
Don't you have friends, family, a job or wife?"
These words just cracked me up.
And I promised him then itself I'd do a write up.
He's a very good friend and I've known him since school days.
When we were learning the Alphabet and how to write essays.
So because you understand, this one's for you.
You get my idiosyncrasies that only a few.
Are all the people in your life dead?
Is that the question that pops in your head?
RM, you are a hoot and so damn witty.
Almost everything you say makes me laugh so quickly!

Thank you Preeths. I never had many of these accounts until I started my blog. I still don’t really use them that much. You are such a sweet little thing.
Hugs….

It’s simple for me. I don’t have social media other than my blog. But I do pay attention to my gadgets. I have to because it’s part of my job. When I’m not in the office I’m often still working.

Work is a different ball game altogether. Can’t really do much about that unfortunately. But, social media can be quite distracting if not used controllably and appropriately. I admire that you don’tt have any.

You’re a good man Fred. You treat people well. Things affect people differently. You choose to do good and be better from your pain and experiences. Not everyone reacts that way.
Not popular, just in my own world….
There’s an Indian saying that matches your ideology…
Atithi devo bhava!
This means ‘guest is like god’
{so treat a person who comes to your home/you well…..as if they were god}

That’s great to know that you are not an avid user of social media … I think a lot of usage of it makes you anxious at times… And the way you have presented it is lovely in itself …

Thank you for agreeing with me there Umi. I agree, it can be good if you use it to your advantage. But, it can get addictive and depressing as well. Thank you for your kind words too. 🙂 🙂 🙂
