Of Pants and Skirts

Would you follow me to the ends of the earth?
Not solely for your pant and my skirt.
It's not like I don't consider it important.
But, that should never be our only tangent.

Could you gaze into my eyes?
And not see the hotness of spice.
But dilated pupils
And blushing dimples.

Can you see any more?
Than what my skin shows?
Can you look into my heart?
Beyond the external packaging parts.

Do you see the passion in my soul?
Yes, my body craves you to be whole.
But, do you see the intensity?
Beyond lust, it's complexity.

Yes, my body yearns to be intertwined.
And make smooth love to your heart and mind.
It's not about the zipper.
It's about entering the soul's enclosure.

To be vulnerable and strip naked.
In the buff, away from the world - isolated.
An exclusive union, just an amalgamation.
A semblance of a balanced equation.

Can it be more than pants and skirts?
And all that the body hungers and thirsts.
It has to be a safe space.
Where genuine interest I can taste.

Would you follow me to the ends of the earth?
Not solely for your pant and my skirt.
It's not like I don't consider it important.
But, that should never be the only tangent.

This poem is purely literary. Please read it with an open mind and out of respect for the written word. To me, writing is my life. There is nothing I love more. I have a very creative imagination. I have always written from my heart …about topics that I am passionate about – Christianity, makeup, melancholic poetry, food, romance, women’s issues, soulful music, narratives etc. Given the circumstances, my gender, situation, geography etc, I feel the need to put up a disclaimer everytime I write a romantic piece. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. But, please don’t interpret this poem in a way it was not intended. That is just my humble request.

Some of my writings may contain material unsuitable for children.

I wrote and completed this poem in the first week of Feb. But, for some reason, I never found the time to publish it ….until now. Phew, I have to start cleaning my drafts now. Got 350 poems to publish yet still ! Image source and credits:love.allwomentalk.com

    1. Absolutely, Eileen. Human beings are constantly seeking tangible things, mental euphoric highs, states of mind in search of that unconditional love. Seldom are they ever successful. But, we are programmed to seek and desire this feeling to belong to someone and possess someone.
Ah, I have a poem in my head already…..my reply to you has just inspired me to cook up something new. Thanks Eileen 🙂

  2. The poet yearns for an intense union of the souls, that is beyond the worldly pleasures. “Look into my heart…, see the passion in my soul….,make love to your heart and mind.. are beautiful and express this idea. The tangential relation only is desired with pupils, dimples, skin etc. Beautiful poem not only to read and reread but to ponder on. The aa,bb rhyme scheme is effective too. Isn’t it ‘pants'( not pant) ?

    1. Yes absolutely……beyond worldly delights within the hedge of a tengential dose. Great inference and breaking down of this poem, Saji….as always.
Well, I believe both pant and pants are acceptable today. But then of course, as per etymology, ‘pantaloons’ would be why it is used in the plural and usually goes by ‘a pair’. Good catch, Saji…. 😃🤩🤓
