Decoding Time

There are so many times I've said I'm too busy.
But let's dilute that statement from the fizzy.
The fact of the matter remains.
No matter how much it pains.

I still make time for some things.
In hindsight, I wish I'd treated my grandpa like a king.
Today he's not there.
And I am filled with regret and despair.

His love was unconditional.
Mine was rather recreational.
That's the same feeling that disturbs me.
When I think of my dad and grandma, you see.

Today none of them are really there.
And I cannot go back in time to repair.
The people who really cared about me.
I took for granted on a spree.

And so I didn't even have the courtesy.
To apologize when I treated them badly.
Because I just knew they'd always be there.
For just too much about me they cared.

Time is such a relative thing.
It could be your winter, for another it's spring.
So decide the what, whom, why and how you deal with your time.
Because not everything gets better like fine tasting wine.

Sometimes, you'll never get another opportunity.
To compensate for the indemnity.
There are many U-turns on the road to destruction.
God gives you several chances to turn back in reflection.

So sit down calmly and evaluate your priorities.
And think about your time allocation and it's quality.
I'm sure if I'd explain to them they'd not mind.
But I just did my own thing as if they were blind.

Time and tide wait for no man.
Just like my name was carved in sand.
Washed away off the shores of a forgotten cadence.
The yolks of an insinuatingly perplexed decadence.

Some things are not meant to be complicated.
And some things, let not them be tolerated.
If you see the light.
Don't ignore or try to fight.

Everything cannot happen as you wish and say.
Maybe it's just not your time today.
Yesterday has become far away.
Tread careful upon the grey.

Now, whatever happened is done.
No need to shoot yourself with a mental gun.
Just imagine they were never there.
Or smile when you think about them, with a prayer.

And let bygones be bygones.
Continue writing the lyrics to the rest of your song.
Maybe someday someone would read your lyrics.
In chords that mesmerize even the cynics.

So breathe freely.
In a way that you see.
And divide your time and soul accordingly.
Because it's time you begin to think logically.

Hush now, or maybe let them flow.
These rivers you've cried even before.
How to explain, I wasn't expecting more.
Yet in relentless pursuit, they scream 'encore'.

The effervescence of yesterday.
Has lost it's bubbly tenacity.
And tomorrow who cares about.
For today, just take the trash out.

History they say, always repeats itself.
Why would it be any different? Yet the heart's compelled.
I wish I'd learned sooner about life and time.
But, that's just one of those things that comes ...with time.

  1. Beautifully written my friend. As humans we make a lot of mistakes no one is perfect. I understand how you miss you dad and grandma, I loss my own mother from cancer when I was a teenager and how I wish I could go back and tell her how much I loved her and even my brother who died young. That is why I have always said tomorrow is not promise to any of us and today is called P-R-E-S-E-N-T always tells the ones that is important to you how much that they mean. Remember always forgive yourself the same way that God forgives you. Your sin He remembers no more.
Blessings my friend and I will be sharing on quietmomentswithgod

    1. Wow….that’s an interesting thought Vgeorg. Life is just a part of time. And here I was thinking time was just part of life. But time has always been and will forever be. But my life is just limited and so small as compared to the great Time!
      Blessings right back at you….πŸ’ŸπŸ™πŸΌπŸ™πŸΌπŸ’Ÿ

  3. How many times do we shoot ourselves mentally? It’s really too bad that the histories that repeat themselves are the histories we’d just as soon forget. Or maybe we simply ignore the repetition that’s to our liking. Nice piece you penned. March is around the corner.

This poem speaks volumes! It’s very well insisted on how time is important to all. For some it’s winter…… For some it’s spring……
