Gifts vs Fruits to decipher

I know I said I will stay away from religious posts.
I really have nothing to share, explain or boast.
But a lot of topics have been bothering me.
In my mind, trapped they want to be free.

I'll tell you just one more thing.
For the moment, this one I'll sing.
I want to tell you how to discern.
Something to me that has been a major concern.

God is so generous. He freely gives.
He makes his sun shine on the good and bad alike.
Irrespective of what they do and all of that despite.
So how do you discern when He constantly forgives?

To be in synch with God means to be in spiritual communion with Him.
That is not as easy as it seems; sometimes you have to go out on a limb.
The Spirit distributes gifts to each one accordingly. 
To spread the Word and heal and for ministry.

The same Spirit distributes according to His will and knowledge.
To each one, it is different and maybe even unique if you didn't attend college.
You could suddenly learn an instrument and burst with baffling creativity.
And even heal and deliver and interpret dreams and have knowledge beyond reality.

But remember those are merely gifts. 
They aren't dependent on a performance appraisal. 
God does not ask for refunds even if you create a rift.
He's not taking it back once He puts them on your table.

Therefore, be not enchanted with the gifts of mortals.
Although tongues and insight or foresight may seem spiritual.
It does not mean they are right and walking with God.
So don't base your all and last penny on their ephod.

Instead, look for these ....the fruits of the Spirit.
You cannot go wrong when He is housed within it.
Love, peace and joy.
No external force can destroy.

Patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness. 
Even self control and faithfulness.
These are the fruits of the Spirit.
This is what a true worshipper inherits.

Remember the gifts will still be there.
You'll continue on your creative spree and affair.
But if you've lost the fruits.
That's certainly not good.

Then it's time to stop, think and look.
Before the fallen world gets you in it's hook.
Don't go around sharing your despair.
If you don't feel the Spirit any longer there.

The greatest of these is love.
If you don't have this, you don't have the dove.
You may speak in strange tongues and the language of angels.
But if you have no love, your spirit is weak and pitiful.

So don't go around preaching and teaching.
If you yourself in the Spirit are lacking.
God is ever forgiving. But if you're out of grace.
Maybe stop in your tracks; take some time and space.

Because if any of these are led astray.
The one who had knowledge will be made to pay.
So if you feel disconnected from the source.
Maybe stop a while and rethink your course.

  5. Beautiful, the fruits of the Spirit which is found in Galatians is for all Christians, and when we are walking with Christ daily these are the fruits we want to make sure we are barring. The scripture on Love is taken from 1 Corinthians 13 that make couples use when they are saying their wedding vows, a wonderful reminder that the greatest is love. I will be sharing your post on quietmomentswithgod.

      So often we are reminded of the power of this commandment….
      Simple….just one….yet we find it so difficult.

    Song Particularly When Priests Say Love is only A Choice

    And Not A Feeling
    Yeah if that Was

    True We Might

    Not Have Psychopaths
    Devoid of Empathy As

    All We Do as Even Ironically
    Science Shows Is Driven by

    The Spirit of Our Emotions in Concert
    With All Our Senses Yet True Looking in the

    Windows of the Eyes of Soul Where that came
    From the Issue Is Clear Where That Discernment

    Did Not Come From

    Yes There is Essence

    And Form No Need for

    Books or Even Words to

    Find the Spirit Within

    To Give And

    Share

    Born This Way A Child

    Baptizes As A Child Does

    In Smiles With No Division

    For the Child Sitting in The Pew

    In Front of them Then Humans Divide

    Themselves From Others the Core Function

    Of All Religion, Politics, And Even Philosophy

    When A Dance And A Smile Needs None of that

    At All To Touch The Face of God in Someone Else…

    SMiles Rue i am so sick and tired of Politics and Religion

    Holding Hands and Folks with Little to no Ability to Discern

    Truth and Lies Within Those Brick and Mortar Walls i Rarely

    Have Any Real Desire to Visit Anymore as Love Died There

    And Doesn’t Seem to Be able to make it’s Way Back It’s True

    Wherever it is Whoever It is When Love Dies So Does Jesus

    And God In Metaphor always… A Famous Bishop Today

    Face of the Catholic Church On Youtube Said

    That The Teachings of Jesus Aren’t

    Even Important If Not for

    The Myths

    His Teachings are

    No Greater than A Sufi

    Mystic True Rumi is a Great Poet too…
    Not Everyone Gets Poetry And Even
    Fewer People Get (DO) the Message of Jesus
    In the Story Clue: Love For All Now No Exclusions

    iT Ain’t Rocket Science And It’s Not Like the Cure Ain’t Already In there

    Yet It’s True if Love Does Not Breathe Within It is Nowhere At all for the Empty Shell….

    1. I’m divided on that Fred.
      I have repeatedly changed my definition and understanding of love several times.
      The Christian in me says love is a decision and choice.
      The human flesh in me says it’s a feeling.
      The mind tells me it’s an equation of that perfect equilibrium…..that I’ll be explaining in one of my next few poems
      …..soooooon….watch out

        Just Someone
        Who Has The Ability

        To See
        Soul

        Even

        A Cat Or Dog
        More Human

        Than

        Folks Where i Live…
        Smiles Dear It’s A Tradition
        In The Deep South Here not

        As

        Much With
        Women Yes Men Raised
        With Stone HeARTS CoLD

        A

        Tear
        Only
        Coming

        From a Beer…

        Seriously Science
        Proves This As Real

        Now As The

        Nose On Our
        Face Some Folks

        Smell This God

        Of Love Some Do

        Not God Is Love A

        Real Life Muscle Some

        Folks Develop And Some

        Do Not It’s Truly

        Impossible to

        Fully

        Understand

        Until one Loses

        The Entire Muscle

        In Hell On Earth

        Literally Worse

        Than The

        Worst

        Pain

        Known

        To Humankind

        Ever been in A

        Position Where

        You Can’t Play
        Tic Tac Toe
        Or Figure

        Out How To
        Make A TV Dinner

        Been There Done
        It Babe If You Ever

        Emotions Let

        What You REALLY Learned About

        God You’ll Do
        Whatever

        It

        When You
        Find Out God
        Is What Makes

        Any Decision Possible
        At All It’s Truly Good News
        God Is Real And This Love

        This Heaven Within Drives

        Human Altruism

        Yet Folks

        Still Worship

        ‘Bomb Shells’

        In Church And

        Say Vote for

        Trump As

        They

        Don’t

        Have Enough

        Emotional Intelligence

        To See Who is Playing

        Them To Death of Soul

        What They Did not
        Develop For Eyes

        To See

        The Difference
        Between Human
        Angels And Demons

        “With No Clothes”

        Ask Yourself
        Why is it Hard

        To Decide if
        Love Is A Choice

        Perhaps Your

        Answer

        You’ll Find….

        The ‘Other Place’ Teaches Best

        Indeed

        Blind

        Will Come

        To See God

        Reborn to Breathe

        Again Or The Real

        Life Miracle A First Breath of

        God Where All Colors Come

        Finally Naked And Free

        Empathy Enough To

        Harm All Of Nature
