God I'm so sorry I threw you away.
You were the only one who really did stay.
God I'm so sorry I threw you away.
You were the only one who never ever betrayed.
God I'm so sorry I threw you away.
Even though you're the only reason I even have a birthday.
God I'm so sorry I threw you away.
When you're the only one obsessing about me night and day.
God I'm so sorry I threw you away.
Like an empty bottle of cabernet.
God I'm so sorry I threw you away.
You've stood by me on every rainy day.
God I'm so sorry I threw you away.
Just so I could have a playful holiday.
God I'm so sorry I threw you away.
And led myself a bit astray.
God I'm so sorry I threw you away.
And now I'm writing you a poem and essay.
When I was too weak.
Darkness I did seek.
You dug me out.
Though I refuse and doubt.
Thanks for skimming it all.
Cos I was about to hug my own downfall.
God I'm so sorry I threw you away.
But here I'm back ....for today.

Amen. God is our constant; our loving, loyal, heavenly Father. We may stray a bit from God, but He never forsakes us and is always there awaiting and coaxing our return.
Beautifully written! Resonated with me.

This poem is similar to a concept in a book called the great divorce book because we choose our heaven through love , forgiveness to all including yourself, repentance, acceptance of God will and good deeds plus faith in the supreme power and guidance from God. The opposite is true but turning back to God is always possible and open for God is overall forgiving and benevolent…

Very powerful remember all humans go through the same thing as you, as it is written in Romans 8:26 (NIV) In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. Many times in my own life I have cried out to God because my spirit has been in pray and in pain emotionally, but you are correct God knows the heart of all humans better than we do. Remember to give yourself grace the way that God continues to gives you grace continually.
Blessings my friend, I will share this on my blog quietmomentswithgod

Eileen, thank you so much for taking the time to explain. Since you’re a pastor, I think I could use some clarity here….do you believe that verse refers to praying in tongues? Or is it more about God knowing your heart and being present in our fears and tears?
Thank you so much for your kindness and blessings, as always….
…and for sharing this poem too.
Hugs and much loveπππππππππ

Not every Christian has the gift of praying in tongues. There are times in our own journey that we are overcome with grief we simply cannot find the words that we want to say to the Lord, that is the time I believe that the Spirit speaks on our behalf. There have been times in my own life with having a daughter chronically sick and I am overcome and scared of what may happen that I simply just cry out to the Lord and in the stillness of my heart I know that the Lord is with me. In the book of Psalm King David tells us to Be still and know that I am God (Psalm 46:10) this is why I have chosen for my blog quiet moments with God, we need to be quiet to be able to hear what the Lord is saying to us at any moment in our lives.
Blessings my friend
