The Christ in Christmas

It's Christmas,
because of Jesus.
There is no Christmas,
without Jesus.

Don't be ashamed to say,
and wish people the proper way.
It's not just a happy holiday.
It's the day we celebrate the baby in the hay.

Sure, we don't know the actual day.
And it may be Newton's birthday.
Maybe some are just things that relate,
to a pagan festival, I won't debate.

And yes, Santa's not real.
And that's no big deal.
Christmas isn't about presents.
A whole lot more, it represents.

The saviour's birth into our world.
The free gift of salvation must be told.
Given unto the world of depression,
that lay in loneliness and restless oppression.

It's Christmas,
because of Jesus.
There is no Christmas,
without Jesus.

  1. Well said! Very wise sentiments too – it matters not that it’s unlikely to be the exact birthday, the fact is that is the date that has long since been decided upon as the date that folk celebrate His birth is enough. And, of course, there are pagan elements attached to the celebration but those are traditions that have been attached and are not really part of the festival of marking the Saviour’s birth. Those two points are the ones that we always hear pumped out by those who seem intent on sucking the joy out of life 😦

              Agape love is such a degree of love that is so difficult to practise…
              Definitely impossible without God…
              Yiu need Gods strength to be able to love so fiercely….unconditionally
              Off late I see myself becoming more human and selfish….
              I strive to be like you and practise what I’ve been saying all along…..
              Reminiscing old times, eh?

              I like doing that too….I have a h9xnof memories that is my safe place….my happy place….

  14. A believer in Christ’s unmistakable miracles, I like to think of Jesus as having occasionally enjoyed a belly-shaking laugh over a good, albeit clean, joke with his disciples, rather than always being the stoically serious type of savior.

    I find even greater hope in a creator who has a great sense of humor rather than foremost a fire-and-brimstone bad temper.

    1. Hahaaaa true…..Jesus certainly appears a whole lot different from the God in the OT especially Leviticus….I imagine He has a lovely sense of humour and probably some style too…..I think He’ll update His wardrobe when He visits next

I find that the general “Christian Right” strongly supports Trump for the politics of (what I term) institutional Christianity—which ironically is in many ways contrary to the Biblical Christ’s own teachings. (I can see Christ spinning in heaven at the sight of the signs that read: “Thank You, Lord Jesus, For President Trump”.)

        For example, he’s already placed a conservative justice on the Supreme Court, and, from my understanding, he’s doing likewise with a number of lower courts. And then there’s his unprecedented politically/emotionally destabilizing (fire stoking?) move of the U.S embassy into Jerusalem, indeed an Evangelical favourite.

        This Christian Right, however, will often interpret various scriptural passages (in both literal and figurative contexts) in an attempt to reconcile the conspicuously contradictory pacifist practices of Jesus with those of the wrathful, vengeful and even jealous nature of God the creator.

        I sometimes wonder how many potential Christians have felt repelled from the faith altogether due to the vocal angry-God-condemnation brand of the religion, perhaps which more resembles the God of the Jehovah’s Witness faith, Quran and Torah.

        Our collective human need for retributive ‘justice’—regardless of Christ (and great spiritual leaders) having emphasized unconditional forgiveness—may be intrinsically linked to the same unfortunate morally-flawed aspect of humankind that enables the most horrible acts of violent cruelty to readily occur on this planet.
