Home

It's not just your blanket and pillow case.
Or your coffee mug and your own plate.
The right and freedom to choose.
Respect will never be confused.
No matter how much you lose.
Love will never be refused.

Where you can own things or decorate.
And put whatever you want on your plate.
Read whatever book and play whichever song.
Take showers however long.
A place where you can truly unwind.
Bask in tranquility of the body and mind.

I'm not saying a home has only love, no hate.
But even with negative emotions, there'll be no debate.
About your position.
No employee-like terms and conditions.
Irrespective of what happens.
You know you can always return to an open door.

Where you can pick and choose.
Your rights and your views.
Eat and sleep when you want.
With comfort, not like at a restaurant.
Charge, regenerate and be strong.
And get ready for what life brings along.

No matter how valuable the gossip rate.
Where all your secrets are absolutely safe.
Irrespective what they are, you are still embraced.
With the power of love and divine grace.

When even in times of agony
You can speak whatever freely.
Freedom of speech
Is never impeached.
You can have different views.
But still be able to defuse.

Fight and cuddle, share and eat.
And sometimes you may not have your way with the toilet seat.
Even if many of them are there at home.
Not really trouble, but a fun zone.
A house is built on bricks.
But a home is stacked on unlit wicks.

Parents reserving the choicest cuts.
For the children, ignoring their own preference and fuss.
And children desperately trying to share.
Knowing that's probably all that's there.
Selflessness and sharing.
Kindness and caring.
Tolerance and patience is what builds a home.

Like a fortress of acceptance.
Although sometimes you may have to do some penance.
Do you know what a home is?
It's not a physical place.
Not just a piece of real estate.
You may have great taste.

And all fancy upholstery and decor.
Maybe spent a few lakhs and crores.
It's not even how big and lavish.
If in peace and love, it's famished.
You could have everything in porcelain.
But, a home is not built with disdain.

Not a speck of rust or dust.
Not a fallen crumb or crust.
It's not about bagging 'the cleanest' title.
If members within it are depressed or suicidal.
It's not even the comfort and luxuries.
If you'd sleep better in bathrooms and debris.

I can go on and on you know.
But a home is so much more.
Do you understand?
It's not about property or land.
A home has a heartbeat.
It's not all cement and concrete.

Do you own/rent a home?
Or just live in a selected zone?
I wish and pray,
that even people of this day.
Experience love, joy, freedom and peace.
Success in abundance and in increase.

And may there be someone always waiting for you.
Maybe just one, to feel like you belong to.
Blessings and grace.
In your home to trace!
Your home.
Your zone.
