Like Little Children

In the Kingdom of Heaven, who among us is the greatest?
Who among us would you vote to be the straightest?
Unless like a child you become humble,
Without these attributes you will fall and crumble.
I tell you, whoever welcomes one of these.
In my name, it will the spirit of God please.
A new believer is just like a child.
Pliable like dough, by customs and dogma undefiled.

If you cause a child in me to lose his faith.
If you are the cause and promote unholy living.
Of your fate, there will be no debate.
If one of your senses causes you to lose your faith,
It is better to lose one of those senses like sight or smell.
Instead of burning completely in the fires of hell.

Don't despise any of these little ones.
For after one lost sheep, the Shepherd runs.
Even though ninety-nine be safely grazing on the hills.
Not one be lost, is His will.

Correction must be done in private always.
But if the brother who sinned won't listen, I'll permit this way.
Get two or more witnesses.
Or bring him to the church council.
If he still won't listen,
Treat him as your pagan brethren.

Let the children come to me.
Don't try to stop them, but see
Humble and benevolent hearts.
Hungry to learn and devour every taught part.

Don't be like the unforgiving servant.
Who to the king owed quite some debt.
But when the time came to repay, he cried and wept.
He joined his hands and for pleaded.
Mercy on him, the king to his request heeded
Forgave all his debt and welcomed him back instead.

But the same servant went back home.
On his way caught another who owed him a small loan.
But spared him not.
Threatened him a lot.
Refused to have mercy.
His emotions made him so thirsty.

Now, when the king heard of this, furious he got.
But I cancelled this man's debt just as he ought.
If you request, the Father forgives all you do.
But remember that's dependent if you forgive your brother too.
Seventy times seven,
That's how it's done in heaven.
Keep forgiving; keep cancelling.
This is what you ought to be practicing!

  1. Absolutely Ruelha… you address the first and foremost underlying tenet of Christianity in the miracle of the New and Everlasting Covenant between God and mankind through the sacrificial “Lamb of God Jesus Christ;” who takes away the sins of the world which is the ultimate eternal forgiveness of sin due to our not being perfect and incapable of being Holy or in God’s presence and was and is the reason Jesus died on the cross, to then be risen from the full consequence of sin which is eternal separation from God and damnation in hell. That is where we all deserve to end up if not for the great mercy of God and His redemption He has provided to any of us who will listen and follow His will, in the Holy name of Jesus.
    As Christians we should know full well from our precious Lord’s Prayer which is a part of any faithful worship and praying to our Lord God.
    “The Lord’s Prayer”
    Our Father, who art in heaven,
    hallowed be thy name;
    thy kingdom come;
    thy will be done;
    on earth as it is in heaven.
    Give us this day our daily bread.
    And forgive us our trespasses,
    as we forgive those who trespass against us.
    And lead us not into temptation;
    but deliver us from evil.
    For thine is the kingdom,
    the power and the glory,
    for ever and ever.
    Amen.
    It clearly tells us; “And forgive us our trespasses,
    as we forgive those who trespass against us.”
    What value would forgiveness have if not applied to all and for all sin! How could we respect and appreciate the forgiveness given to us if we don’t know and practice forgiveness of one another? The following scripture again illustrate to us the greatest importance in our need to forgive others because in so doing we allow our own sins to be forgiven as well.
    “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Matthew 6:14-15.
    “Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.” Colossians 3:13 🙏 ✝️

    1. That is a very good question William.
      I’m afraid the actual answer would be too long.
      So I’ll give you one of the many reasons….
      I have read the book of Matthew several times in an attempt to memorize the verses I love. I failed and quit many times. I chose Matthew because ….well, I was very ambitious and wanted to do the same for all the 4 books. Since, Matthew is the first book, I just happened to begin with it. For years I was stuck on Matthew and never really did complete it. This way, since I’m putting in the effort to make poems…..I’ll probably remember better and study it and digest it better. So it helps me. And it’s fun too. That’s one of the few important reasons 😀😀😀🎀🎀🎀. Have you read the book of Matthew?

    1. Let’s try a prayer of blessing. Maybe we could agree in prayer together that he a peaceful and calm man full of patience in the name of Jesus. I’m agreeing with you right now. Then whenever you think of him or see him, irrespective of what you see happening, keep on thanking and praising God for he has become so patient and calm. That’s what I would do. I wouldn’t suggest something I dont stand by. You don’t have to do it if you disagree/don’t like this approach 🙏🏼😀🙏🏼
      Huggs and much love 💐🤗
