Dear Soul; Sincerely, Your Spirit

Bless the Lord, Oh my soul,
For He is the one who makes us whole.
All of my being, my senses, heart and mind,
Praise His holiness, for my spirit longs to be entwined.
My spirit, for God longs,
But my soul is wavering about where it belongs.
Oh my soul, have you forgotten? ...in fire you are begotten.

Remember now, how He forgives.
Like each time before, your inequities.
He is slow to anger; praise the Lord Oh my soul,
Although for my sins, I deserve imprisonment or parole.
The accuser of our brethren points his finger,
But in guilt and shame I will not linger.

Remember how He brings healing,
irrespective of what my soul, you are presently feeling.
Don't magnify your problems and sickness, my soul.
Instead bless His holy name, rejoice and put on some kohl.

Remember, child of God, you are redeemed.
By His own blood, held in such high esteem.
Bless the Lord, Oh my soul.
Without His cross, you'd end up in that bottomless hole.

Remember, bless the Lord for His constant love.
And how His great mercy enveloped you like a glove.
Sure, you can measure it ...up into the sky!
His covenant, His fountain of mercy never runs dry.

Remember, oh my soul, to speak of His goodness.
Because He Himself came, that you may have life in all its fullness.
Bless the Lord oh my soul.
For He has cleansed my lips with burning coal.

Bless the Lord oh my tired and wiery, exhausted soul.
Because He has renewed your youth and given you new goals.
Remember dear soul, He has raised you before.
Harken, your spirit is yearning; lean on Him once more.
Like an eagle with clear vision, to great heights you will soar.
Aerodynamically designed, without flapping your wings, not even a chore.

Remember my soul, He judges in favour of the oppressed.
I, your spirit, am telling you - don't be depressed.
His Grace is sufficient; you shall have your rights.
The battle is not yours; you don't even have to fight.
Bless the Lord oh my wiery soul.
Unlike the world calls you, more than a conqueror, not toilet roll.

His covenant is everlasting.
You don't even need to be fasting.
Observe His commands; love one another.
Reflect His love, to your hungry brother.
Live in fellowship with Him, spirit to spirit.
Oh my soul, let's together co-ordinate.
Don't see straight, but on His Word meditate.
