Butterfly Crime Scene

Have you ever watched the program Impractical Jokers?
No, no, I ain't no promoter!
That show is darn good.
It cracks up, even hardwood.

Season one, episode two,
That's where you'll find Sal and the crew...
He sang this impromptu song as a punishment.
Much to the audience's astonishment.

I've put the lyrics of the song below, down.
So you know what I'm referring to, this clown.
Before this song, we'd always joke,
about flappy and these creatures - slowpoke!
It didn't ever occur that Sal was probably right.
Through the pigeon's demure, anything else but not this plight!

They're nothing, but wriggley worms.
And once they sit on you, they dictate the terms.
Nobody likes to see a caterpillar!
It's just a filthy worm without any colour.
Disguised in sheep's clothing,
this wolf doesn't go around exposing.

An airborne disease carrying worm,
of a thousand other contagious germs.
Don't get to it, too close.
You'll be unable to oppose.
Because they hypnotize you with their deceptive colour.
Mesmerize you just as you begin to wonder.

I agree with you there Sal.
We see the true world, my pal.
What could be better than a dead butterfly?
I'd rather not have one stuck to my thigh.
I've never struck a butterfly,
and here are you and here am I.
But sometimes, there'd be too many.
Annihilate them all; not worth a penny.

I'd never murder a butterfly,
because somehow or the other, nature has a continuous supply.
I wouldn't stain my conscience and destroy them all.
But I'm open to nature devouring them one by one, as they fall.

I agree with you there Sal.
We see the true world, my pal.
What could be better than a dead butterfly?
I'd rather not have one stuck to my thigh.
I've never struck a butterfly,
and here are they, and here am I.

An abomination to the law of creation.
Like covid, they follow the contagion of contamination.
I'm telling you, just take the vaccine.
There's been a butterfly pandemic unforeseen!
Diseases they spread, this unhygienic gene.
But, it is your responsibility to stay clean.

I agree with you there Sal.
We see the true world, my pal.
What could be better than a dead butterfly?
I'd rather not have one stuck to my thigh.
I've never struck a butterfly,
but here are they, and here am I.

Well of course Sal, we could destroy their tiny little butterfly homes,
and with it - absolutely everything they own.
But, I ain't no murderer
...even to those wicked old mesmerizing sorcerers.

Maybe I am justified,
to be so petrified!
Stung by so many of these flies,
Survived because of the treatment, though painful - agonize.
to be revived only in the ICU,
injected me with the venom they secretly spew.

I agree with you there Sal.
We see the true world, my pal.
What could be better than a dead butterfly?
I'd rather not have one stuck to my thigh.
I've never struck a butterfly,
but here are they, and here am I.

Maybe covid should have only affected all the butterflies, what say?
And taken them all, with their disease-spreading filth away.
But then, Jesus He looks at me and smiles.
And I am reminded of my past sins and lies.
They're too a part of the creation story.
One day meant to bring Him glory.

The Original Song Lyrics - Butterfly Crime Scene by Sal Vulcano of Impractical Jokers:

I've always loved butterflies
Since I was a child
But sometimes there'd be too many
I murdered the butterflies
Dead butterflies
Dead butterflies
What could be better than a dead butterfly?
Butterfly Crime Scene
It's a Butterfly Crime Scene
What could be better than a dead butterfly?
Grass from wings came off a while
And release the darkness within
Chalk outlines on the floor reveal insights that I remorse
The butterfly effect makes me want to be there today
I never struck a butterfly and here are you and I
Dead Butterflies
Dead Butterflies
What could be better than a dead butterfly?
Butterfly Crime Scene
It's a Butterfly Crime Scene
What could be better than a dead butterfly?
I saw a butterfly, flutter by
And I wondered how he had a way
Maybe today wasn't his day to die
Oh no, well perhaps someday he'll take me away
Dead Butterflies
Dead Butterflies
What could be better than a dead butterfly?
Butterfly Crime Scene
It's a Butterfly Crime Scene
What could be better than a dead butter
What could be better than a dead butter
What could be better than a dead butterfly?
A dead butterfly

    1. That’s the amazing thing about poetry….there can be multiple interpretations. I always ensure my poems have at least 2-3interpretations. They must make sense to me literally as well as in at least 2 different ways in between the lines….
Well, to answer your question….butterflies do spread disease. We just let our guard down because they don’t look like typical worms. Did you know some varieties of butterflies🦋 are poisonous – not sufficient enough to kill a human being, but will cause you discomfort and stomach problems…. 🤔😀🌈

                  1. My brother was in band, theater, and something else–maybe the newspaper too. I was in chorus, theater and the school paper ===school politics in Junior high and Yearbook in Senior High, I think…

stretched my theater wings—literally—with an impromptu dramatization of a caterpillar to a butterfly—demonstrating how the handicapped kids i was working with would grow up in God. Have done puppET SHOws with and for kids and this nut vase even gargled AMAZING GRACE—AND THE STAR-SPANGLED BANNER —FOR A “BO TALENT NIGHT! :”
