Recipe: Sangria

Sangria has been my favourite cocktail since I was introduced to it in 2016. It is so easy to make. You can add and subtract ingredients as per taste. But, definitely give this one a try.

Ingredients: makes 10 wine glasses

  • 1 bottle of inexpensive chilled red wine
  • 3/4th cup brandy or cognac {can skip if unavailable}
  • approximately 500 ml of chilled orange juice
  • 2 cups of chopped fresh seasonal fruits

Method:

Just mix or shake up all these ingredients together and serve chilled. If you want the fruits to soak in the wine well, you will need to let this sit for an hour or two. But I don’t really prefer that. I love adding canned cherries in the fruit mix. You can add whatever fruits you like/have. The Spaniards make a rather strong concoction, but I like mine sweet….like really sweet. So, I just use more orange juice than required and lesser alcohol. Some inexpensive table wine should do. But, if you look at my pictures, I used port this time. Port is already sweet, but that’s just one of the many variations of Sangria I make 🙂

Cheers!

  1. That’s creative
    The only thing is,
    I’m not allowed to drink
    It’s forbidden in our tradition and religion

    1. I drink about twice or 5 times at max in a year. And when I do it’s usually 2 glasses of something sweet like Sangria, Pinacolada, Bailey’s, dessert wine or a sweet port. I really cannot appreciate complex drinks no matter how smooth or fancy 🙂
